Navigate through uncertainty

Business and HR/People Leaders are facing unprecedented times, maintain the business offering and maximise financial stability while navigating a whole workforce who are working in unique conditions each with their own personal needs and beliefs in their job and employer.

“Only when the tide goes out do we discover who has been swimming naked”

This is one of my favourite Warren Buffet quotes, he was speaking about the investment market at the time but right now it applies to all businesses, at a time where we are becoming more and more exposed it’s becoming incredibly painful to watch the unveiling of many organisations and their people.

During times of certainty, sales are easier to close and growth easier to navigate. It is through times of uncertainty, where we stand right now that we face the ultimate test of survival, where all people must truly show up and give everything they have, making well thought out decisions with the future in mind. The question that will haunt us until the end of our days will now be, how did you get through the COVID crisis? It’s worth giving this some serious thought

Here are some questions we could be asking ourselves as leaders

  • Are we open about our position?
  • Are we allowing our people to reach their potential?
  • Do our people feel valued and supported?
  • Are we still effective in our collaboration?
  • Are we paying close attention to those doing their best work?
  • How do we develop our best ideas?
  • How do we make decisions?
  • How do we share knowledge?
  • Where is our plan coming from?

During tough times, warriors are born. What will your recovery story look like?
